We rented bicycles and cruised the neighborhoods on both sides of the Arno. Enjoyed a gorgeous sunset view of the Ponte Vecchio while picnicking on the banks of the river.
We went to the Empire State Building late at night (maybe 11 or 11:30). We walked down after we saw Jersey Boys. It was perfect because there were no lines....but you could see all the ropes for the queues, and they went on forever!!
Interestingly enough they have a DNA research department here that is frequently contacted by the police for help with solving crimes. In a very famous case, Kew was able to discern what food a torso found in the Thames had consumed.
Amazing to think that the Regent paid for the construction of these buildings in the mid-1770s in part with a tax on the Colonies, including levies on things like tea. And in response, some guys in Boston took offense to that and threw a party. They also have a room filled with full-scale models of dozens of famous sculptures from around the world, Michelangelo's David, Trajan's Column in Rome, etc. Definitely worth checking out.
Not sure if I added the right V&A. The one I'm recommending is the V&A Museum in S. Kensington. Just rediscovered the place on my last trip back to London -- a temple to human creativity and ingenuity -- from giant, ancient religious sculpture to contemporary fashion and jewellery. get down to the water near Presidio and Chrissy Field (grass field right on the water--any taxi driver will know it). Walk as far as you want from there towards Golden Gate Bridge. on the dirt path near the water. Food and 'services' close to the bridge.
