Def plan to reserve the borghese gallery. The "I don't have reservations line" was ridiculous. Also, take Rick's advice and start upstairs. Then go back to the front while everyone goes upstairs during the second half. Wish I had listned to him ... I will do this when I go back in a month!
Beautiful gallery with plenty of gardens, sculptures and renaissance paintings. My favorite in Rome. In the middle of the Borghese gardens - a really pretty and huge park.
One of my favorite museums. Don't miss this. You have to make a reservation in advance. They'll give you a time to be there and then you have 2 hours. No reservation, no get in! They tell you to start on the top floor, paintings and such, BUT leave lots of time for the first floor because that's One of my favorite museums. Don't miss this. One of the best summers of my life was spent in Radda at a friends newly renovated monastery home built on the side of a hill surrounded by grapes and olive groves. So when you go to Rada, the only thing to do is cisit the many wine castles and taste the main product of Chianti wine. The little town in Chianti offers wonderful restaurants and little shops filled with everything from antiques to GRAPPA...BEWARE OF GRAPPA It's like moonshine!!! :)…see moresee less
Consider walking around the south side of the walls around the Vatican, seeing the relationship of the piazza to that area... There's not much north of the Vatican except a touristy shopping district...
Takes at least half a day if not longer. But ABSOLUTELY worth it. Make sure you do a guided tour. Well worth the price. We did Maximus Tours (good price, great guide): Takes at least half a day if not longer. But ABSOLUTELY worth it. Make sure you do a guided tour. Well worth the price.
