The island of Itsukushima, in the Seto inland sea, has been a holy place of Shintoism since the earliest times. The first shrine buildings here were probably erected in the 6th century. One of 16 World Heritage Sites in Japan!

Takes at least half a day if not longer. But ABSOLUTELY worth it. Make sure you do a guided tour. Well worth the price. This is a hard place to land good deals, although it never hurts to check the hotel's Web site for specials: rates average $250 to $300 much of the year, but during slower weeks you can usually snag a room for around $170 to $180 (competitive in comparison with other high-end Strip properties).
The food hall here is must. It's really cool and a great place to grab lunch. Closest comparison would be the Ferry Building in SF, but more food to order/eat right there. You'll dig it.
