agreed with peter. don't take this zoo for granted. it craps on our LA zoo, no joke. don't sleep on this if you haven't been. pay for the sky ride/bus tour, it's worth it -- see animals while you hop from one side of the park to the next.
I'd recommend this over the Santa Monica Pier since it's probably going to be freezing and cloudy at this time of year. At the end of 3rd St. is the newly renovated open-air mall which is quite gorgeous and has a very nice food court with fancy schmancy restaurants at the top level. They also have a room filled with full-scale models of dozens of famous sculptures from around the world, Michelangelo's David, Trajan's Column in Rome, etc. Definitely worth checking out.

Jerusalem has always been of great symbolic importance. Among its 220 historic monuments, the Dome of the Rock stands out: built in the 7th century, it is decorated with beautiful geometric and floral motifs. It is also the only World Heritage Site in Jerusalem!
More than obvious, but there is one thing a lot of people still don't know (or they are just too lazy). Be there before the opening and enjoy it without waiting in line and less people on these narrow stairs.
War Horse or Wicked would be my preference, but if nobody is interested in either of those, I could be talked into being dragged along to one of the others.
