Houses the St Vitus Cathedral which in turn houses what is my favourite stained glass window. Also houses the Chapel of St. Wenceslas and the burial places of many Bohemian kings and Holy Roman Emperors. Fantastic example of Gothic architecture.
I'm sorry I'm just not a fan of this whole area. Waaay too many tourists and not the cleanest part of the city. While it offers great views I'd skip on a short trip.
I don't even want to think about the hours I've spent at this legendary bookstore. Every New Yorker in the world must own at least one book from here and if you go you'll see why. You can find stuff here you'll never find anywhere else. Bring a tissue--it's very, very dusty.
and St Patricks Cathedral is gorgeous and close. You can actually go in while service is going on and hang out in back...I took pics. Not sure if your allowed but I did :)

This is a restaurant that sits on a lake (not to be confused with the little lake that rents out electric boats) and is one of the more beautiful places to get a drink and relax in the city (food is good too). I've been here on sunny days, during torrential downpours and during winter, and its been enjoyable every time. I love this place.…see moresee less
Great place to chill out during the day, lovely to walk around especially when the weather is fine (summer or winter) but don't recommend going through it after dark.
Park at the foot of the mountain by Vermont Ave and Los Feliz Blvd and hike up the road to the observatory (stay on the left side). And you can't miss the planetarium shows (super cheap at $5/ticket). They've got three, and the most popular one is "Centered in the Universe." The good: it's free. The bad: parking's $15. Park on Veteran Ave (east side of the street) between Sunset Blvd and Gayley Ave and take the Metro Rapid 761 (Pacoima) North on Sunset by Bellagio Way. Bus fare is $1.50 and takes only 7 minutes, dropping you off at the Sepulveda entrance.
Yes please! This place is the best for just walking around and the movie theater is gorgeous :) plus farmers market is right next door and they have a chipotle and an apple store :P
Another uber romantic hot-spot. The Farmer's Market has a plethora of great food options and for relatively cheap. They also have karaoke night sometimes, too. Woot for free entertainment!
They also have a room filled with full-scale models of dozens of famous sculptures from around the world, Michelangelo's David, Trajan's Column in Rome, etc. Definitely worth checking out.
Not sure if I added the right V&A. The one I'm recommending is the V&A Museum in S. Kensington. Just rediscovered the place on my last trip back to London -- a temple to human creativity and ingenuity -- from giant, ancient religious sculpture to contemporary fashion and jewellery.
