Seeing as they're called Gussie's Chicken & Waffles, you pretty much have to get friend chicken and/or waffles here. Aside from the classic waffles, their sweet potato and red velvet ones are also delicious.
the coffee is good. the line has been super long every time i've been there. The is a heavy hipster attitude from the staff which isn't really what i'm looking for by the time i wait through the line, but if you're wanting a solid coffee, i guess it's worth it.

OK, admittedly, this is not a real tree but this artist's tree-like sculptures are so incredible I had to post them. Henrique Oliveira is Brazilian and does amazing, large-scale installations all over the world that are really worth seeing. Make sure to catch him when he's showing at a gallery near OK, admittedly, this is not a real tree but this artist's tree-like sculptures are so incredible I had to post them. These are actually the roots of the trees, not the trees themselves. The temple was built in the 12th century and was abandoned in the 1400s. It wasn't until the 19th century that it was "discovered" by archeologists.
While a local legend would have people believe that this bike was left by a boy about to go to war in 1914, the real owner of the bike claims otherwise. According to him, he abandoned his bike while playing with friends and just left it against the then young tree. The design of the hotel hints at traditional Japanese design. Located across the street from the Imperial Palace, the hotel has fantastic views of the city.
Leave it to Prada to come up with something this avant garde. The windows here are actually slightly concave (or convex, depending on where you are), so there's a bubble effect that's pretty great. It's six stories high so there's plenty of great merchandise from which to choose!
The Archaeological Site of Al-Hijr features well-preserved monumental tombs with decorated facades dating from the 1st century BC to the 1st century AD. One of 2 World Heritage Sites in Saudi Arabia!
Mada'in Salih (earlier known as Al-Hijr), about 1,111 km west-northwest of Riyadh and about 402 km northwest of Madinah, is one of the not-to-be-missed historical wonders in Saudi Arabia (and unsurprisingly of the whole world). In July 2008, UNESCO declared Madain Salih as the World Heritage Site. Source: Splendid Arabia…see moresee less
Somehow every time I've made this drive I've screwed up and ended up driving at night...and yet somehow it was still stunning. Not a ton of diversity in it (not like you'll be going through lots of towns or residential areas), but it's still gorgeous.
If you've never had a hammam experience this is the perfect place to start. It's even mentioned in the book "1000 Places to See Before You Die" and it was a big favorite of both Tony Curtis and Florence Nightingale (go figure). Like most hammams there's a little cafeteria for an after-hammam tea.
