Wow! And I thought I was organized!!! This is the bird department at the Smithsonian National Natural History Museum. I wonder how they decide which birds to put out and which to keep in the drawers???
While it may look like an ancient rock formation this was actually built in the 1970s (didn't even open until '77!). Not only did it create a way for villagers to have greater access to the more mainstream parts of the country, it inadvertently created a huge tourist attraction.

This amazes me every time I see it. The goats here climb this tree to eat the fruit. The problem is that they can't digest a certain nut that's in the fruit so herders follow them around all day and remove the nut from their waste. The nut is then ground into oil and used in products like cosmetics. This amazes me every time I see it. The goats here climb this tree to eat the fruit. Also, hit the California Academy of Sciences while you're there, as well as the Japanese tea garden right next door! One of my favoriteThis is a GREAT visit. Although it looks like it could be the surface of the moon, this is actually a salt-making facility. All those little pools are filled with water that eventually evaporates leaving salt behind. Amazing, isn't it?
cool, hip spot. Food is so unique it's worth the experience. It's one of those places that i feel like i need to go there a dozen times before i can tell if i really like it or not because it's so unusual.
Heard two guys in a parking lot talking about this and had to ask them about it. Sure enough, it turns out they were right. No idea why they serve these like this but you have to admit, it's certainly a novel little idea.
