Ranches: Dude, Horse, and Otherwise
Even the most ardent city slicker has dreamed of taking off to the mountains to ranch, fish, and sing a few ditties by the fire. Whether you want to really rough it or be completely pampered, these ranches have it all.
While there's all the usual dude ranch stuff here, there's also a big emphasis on fly fishing so if you've ever wanted your "A River Runs Through It" moment, this is the place to have it.
This ranch offers some very reasonable all-inclusive rates not to mention endless activities that range from art classes to spa treatments and of course, riding lessons.
Get this: the tents here have heated floors! Heated floors, I tell you! Not only that, but this ranch is located on 37,000 acres and has the state's second-largest private equestrian center. Seriously the tents here are more glam and bigger than most apartments. I'm afraid if I ever went here I'd Get this: the tents here have heated floors! Heated floors, I tell you! Attention honeymooners: this place is adults only! Aside from that they also have some great extras like fly fishing instruction from an Orvis expert. I wonder if you get a cool fishing hat.
What better way to come down from all that ranching than with a few spa treatments? Believe it or not, this is actually the spa at Siwash. How gorgeous is this???
It's not super snazzy but if you want a really authentic experience this is a good place to have one. The famous Duggar family stayed here for their television show.

This family-owned and -run ranch has been in business since 1910 and is still going strong. Surrounded by three different mountain ranges it's got some incredible scenery.
I can't imagine anything better than sitting on that porch with a good book. If you're into fly fishing, parts of "A River Runs Through It" were actually filmed near here. Also, there's a ghost town nearby that would be kind of cool to see!
This ranch (which looks so perfectly ranchy it almost looks fake to me), is located right between Yellowstone and Glacier National Park so you can only imagine the scenery. Go soon, though--they're only open in the summer!
This ranch, which, interestingly enough, is run by the Nature Conservancy, has some really interesting activities like following the path of bears, painting classes, and photography classes led by professionals.
This place is known for being one of the country's most authentic ranches. It's been around for about 90 years and is still run by the granddaughter of the couple who started it.
