There are actually a bunch of interestingly balanced rocks here, apparently due to erosion thousands and thousands of years ago. Looks like a very interesting area to explore.

Like climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro or seeing over 100 countries, it's become a bit of a feather in the cap of "serious" travelers to stand on this rock and have their picture taken. Obviously this guy considers himself a serious traveler!

Thanks to the Army, got to go to all of King Ludwig's castles. Germany was great and the beer was fattening.

This looks like it couldn't possibly be real. Apparently the king built it because he was so shy he wanted to separate himself from his public.

This is an abandoned mill--love the look of it!

Not the cheeriest house I've ever seen, but it's certainly interesting. You can only get down to see it by way of funicular.

There are a lot of legends surrounding this little chapel, although the prevailing one seems to be that it was started by a man seeking retribution for throwing his brother over a cliff.

These houses are built right into the side of the mountain. The origins of the name is "Place of Frogs"

On display at Saint Michel's is a slew of treasures that archeologists found here in the 1950s. Additionally, the interior boasts stunning frescoes, possibly painted some time in the 12th century.

They hold weddings here. Bet there are some very nervous guests. While there have been some changes over the years, it's said that the castle has been in existence since the 13th century.

All the caves here are man-made and were built to stores supplies--or allow for romantic liaisons--depends who you ask!

Some people are just way ahead of their time; like Thomas and Gladys Johnston who founded this eco-friendly retreat in the 1960s. Made from materials found naturally in the area (like discarded whale bones), this house runs on solar energy and collects rainwater for bathing.

Built in the 12th century, monks still live and meditate here today. Not surprisingly, it's a favorite spot of serious hikers.

If you like duck, this is your place. Duck is to Rocamadour what the cheese steak is to Philly.

This is actually a night club known not only for its incomparable views but its vibrant music scene. Probably a very good idea to watch what you drink here.

I can see how attacking soldiers would just slide right back down that hill! The rock this is on is actually an old volcano!

I'd have to drive up here with my eyes closed. This is actually just one of several different sections of the mountain offering different attractions.

I'd imagine that when kids hit a ball out of the yard here they just kind of let it go. Famous bullfighting fan Ernest Hemingway lived here for a while.

Interestingly this is actually a restaurant. Their insurance must be through the roof.
