Far Out! Fabulous Googie Architecture
Long before there was Google, there was Googie; a retro style of futuristic architecture that looked like something straight out of the Jetsons. Check out these Googie and Googie-inspired gems!
Built in the 1970s as public housing, the buildings here were originally supposed to have plants on the balconies but the idea was nixed when it was thought that the plants would bring bugs.
Designed by Googie master Eero Saarinen, this closed as the official TWA terminal in 2001 but re-opened as a Jet Blue terminal in 2008. The original design was meant to resemble a bird in flight.
Aside from being such an important building this is also one of the most intriguing. The inside looks more like a Palm Springs house than the site of major world decisions.
