Like climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro or seeing over 100 countries, it's become a bit of a feather in the cap of "serious" travelers to stand on this rock and have their picture taken. Obviously this guy considers himself a serious traveler!
Hard to imagine going for the photo op here, but if you're one of those people you're probably willing to do a little BASE jumping too. Get your kicks soon though, it is rumored it will soon be illegal.
Home to the 2014 Winter Olympics I have read the terrain here is unbelievable and everything is being built from scratch. Look for Sochi to become a world class resort in the next 5 years.
Lisbon has awesome public transportation. The Lisbon Metro connects the city centre with the upper and eastern districts. It even extends out into the suburbs.
Sintra has become one of the most popular daytrips from Lisbon. Just don't travel there during rush hour. Sintra has some of the worst traffic in Europe!
So cool to see dudes in the middle of a city walking around with surfboards. They really do tear it up, and it's fun to watch from the bridge right overhead.
It's kitschy and a bit contrived but I have to say I had one of the funniest, craziest, and most memorable experiences I've ever had in my life here. When you get to the door a guard says “Slava Ukraini” (Glory to Ukraine) and you have to say “Heroyam slava” (Glory to its heroes) back. Then and only then do you get to descend the stairs into the restaurant. You also get a free shot of vodka at that point so you're a tad buzzed by the time you order. The theme here is the Ukrainian Insurgent Army and the wait staff have this shtick where they argue with customers, each other, etc. All in all, it's a lot of fun and if don't go there while you're in town, you're really missing something.…see moresee less
I always have to remind myself that this is real. The rocks here were formed from volcanic eruptions although the legends that try to explain them are endless.
