They hold weddings here and you can bet there are probably some very nervous guests. While there have been some changes over the years, it's said that the castle has been in existence since the 13th century.

It takes about an hour and a half to complete the tour at this UNESCO World Heritage Site which includes part of the Reka River. Make sure to bring a sweater as temps really drop when you reach the bottom.

The Spanish property includes buildings relating to its mining history, including Retamar Castle, religious buildings and traditional dwellings. The site in Idrija notably features mercury stores and infrastructure, as well as miners’ living quarters, the miners’ theatre. The sites bear testimony to the intercontinental trade in mercury which generated important exchanges between Europe and America over the centuries. The two sites represent the two largest mercury mines in the world and were operational until recent times. One of 26 New World Heritage Sites added in 2012!
