Could this be more incredible? Originally built in the 15th century, Changdeokgung was named to the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2007. The Buckingham Palace of its time, the wooden palace is under constant threat of fire and indeed, has been burned down several times.
In the 15th century a Bureau of Palace Construction was set up consisting of a number of official buildings set in a garden that was cleverly adapted to the uneven topography of the 58-ha site. It is also one of 10 World Heritage Sites in Korea!
