For places I've never been it's proved useful (when people make actual recommendations). Belgrade in particular. And I like the map it makes, so I know if something's too far out of my way.
Entry here is by invitation only unless you are a member. Part of the Soho House "family" (other spots are New York & London) this is a people watching kind of place.
I definitely want to check out this area known to have reinvented itself from poverty during the 1970's to become a thriving neighborhood with great food & a great vibe. Large Turkish population as well.
I've talked about how taking in Germany's architecture is an event unto itself, the Sony Center is a great example of this. There's something to dazzle the eye at every turn and great green areas to enjoy all around.
My admiration of Germany's architecture is due to locales like this one. There's so much to take in that goes beyond history and current usage. Proximity to other sites is also excellent.
This space has its own concept of reinvention. Originally created as a art space for pieces from Russia it had an identity complex and became an ice cream center. Now, a bar. Oh the many faces of Babette.
Berliner Unterwelten E.V.’s “Subways, Bunkers and the Cold War” tour showcases the city’s underground infrastructure along with its evolution and use during WWII, the Cold War and today. Quite fascinating!
