Arriving soon — an exciting new Trippy. Stay tuned!!
Trippy is a social travel web and mobile app designed to collect and share travel ideas, and collaborate on your travel plans with the people in your life who know you best. It's a full-circle travel experience that takes you from dreaming to doing.
Trippy has two main features - travel inspiration boards and a trip planning tool. Travel boards are visual collections of places where you've been or want to go. You can start creating your travel boards by clicking the "want" or "been" button on the images of places you see on Trippy. Get creative and create your own custom boards, too, based on any theme you'd like. Whether it's restaurants you want to feast at in Barcelona, or beaches you want to visit around the world, there's a board waiting to be created!
Trips are travel plans that allow you to create a trip itinerary based on the places you're considering, which can be shared with your friends to collaborate on ideas and recommendations. You can easily create trips by clicking on "create a trip" at the bottom of any page and following the guide. Trips also work with our full-featured iPhone app so that you can view your travel plans and create trip albums on the go, allowing you to take your friends along for the ride!
Heck yes we do! You can download our iPhone app here or search for "Trippy" in your app store. At the moment, the app supports trips, and travel boards will be added in soon. We also have an Android app in the works as we know that there are many Android-using Trippy members out there!
Travel boards are visual collections of places where you've been or want to go. As you start to click the "want" and "been" buttons for places, two boards are automatically created -- "Places I've been" and "Places I want to go", and you also have the option of adding those places to custom boards as well.
You can create as many custom boards as you like, based on any theme that inspires you. Whether it's for Hawaiian beaches, San Francisco dive bars, patisseries in Paris, or a round-up of the best pizzerias or art galleries that you've ever experienced and want to share with your friends, there's a board waiting to be created, so get creative!
Travel boards are here to help inspire and collect travel ideas and here are three simple guidelines to follow to ensure the quality of the Trippy travel boards community:
Travel boards can be made by going to the "Your Boards" page and clicking on "create another board". Travel boards can also be created when you add places to your board from the site or through the Trippy bookmarklet as you surf the web. When you're adding places, simply scroll to the bottom of your list of boards, which you'll see in the pop up layer, and click on "create a new board".
A fun and easy way to add places to the board is through our bookmarklet, which you can pick up here. Simply drag and drop it onto your browser's bookmark or favorites bar and you're good to go! As you're surfing the web and you see photos of places that inspire you, just click on the Trippy bookmarklet button on your browser to add those images onto your travel board.
You can also add places straight from Trippy's homepage or from the travel boards of other Trippy members by hovering over photos and clicking on "want" or "been." The place will be automatically added to your "Places I want to go" or "Places I've been" boards, and you also have the option to add it to one of your custom boards as well. When you're adding places, simply scroll to the bottom of your list of boards, which you'll see in the pop up layer, and select one of your custom boards or create a new one.

You can search for destinations by clicking on the drop down menu next to "Browse" towards the top of the homepage. At the bottom of the drop down menu, enter in the name of your destination and the autocomplete will suggest a list of destinations. Click on the one that you are searching for.

Click on the blue "create a trip" button at the bottom of any page and go with the flow! The guide should be pretty self-explanatory, but should you need a hand, here are some step-by-step directions to help guide you:
Step-by-step directions for creating a trip:
If you type the location name into the "+add" box and it's not found, simply click the add button and voila, it will be added.
You can see your friends who have started planning trips by going to your Friend Trips page, which you can get to by clicking your profile photo in the top right corner of any page on the site. Friends can also share their trip plans with you through Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, email, and anywhere they post their custom link. Just click on the link to dive in and start sharing your fondest memories and best suggestions for that destination!
To recommend places, simply type in the name of the place (restaurant, hotel, store or attraction) in the search box and select it from the auto-completer. The search box is in the center of every trip page and will appear at the top of the page as you scroll down. Then click the "recommend" button and it will appear on your friend's "Recommendations" page.
For sure! You can share the custom link to your trip plan with anyone you'd like. Friends who visit Trippy need to log in with their Facebook account, but you don't have to be connected with them on Facebook for them to help.
Click "add to trip" on any hotels, restaurants, stores, or attractions that you would like to add to your itinerary. A drop-down menu will appear, allowing you to select which day of your trip you'd like that location added to, or to simply save as something you're considering.
After a few recommendations are added to your trip, you'll see a thumbnail map of the destination on the right side of the page with the recommendations plotted on it. At the bottom right corner of the map is a link that says "enlarge map", which you can click to view an expanded map.
You can view your friends' trips by going to your Friend Trips page, which you can get to by clicking on your profile photo at the top of any page on the site and selecting it from the drop down menu.
You can edit the details of your trip at any time by going to your trip page and clicking on the blue pencil symbol next to your trip title at the top of the page.
To delete a trip, go to the "Your Trips" page (which you can reach by clicking on your profile photo at the top of any page). Hover over the trip that you would like to delete and click on "delete this trip" when it pops up.
You can upload photos to your trip album through our iPhone app. Go to your trip page in the app, click on the "post" button, and you will be guided to post a photo.
The ability to upload through Android and on the website itself is also in the works!
Yes! All trips that you plan on Trippy will be archived and you will be able to access them with all of your friends' comments and recommendations.
To add a traveler to your trip, go to the page of your trip and click on "+ add another traveler" towards the top right side of the page under "Who's going?", then enter in the name of your Facebook friend who will also be on the trip. You know what they say -- the more, the merrier!
For now, we ask that members connect to Trippy through Facebook. In the future, we do plan on offering more login options, so stay tuned!
Sorry to see you go! To deactivate your account, go to your settings page and click on the "deactivate your account" link on the right side of the page. If you have any feedback or insight on what we can do to improve your Trippy experience, we'd love to hear from you. You can contact us through our feedback button on any page.
To search for people on Trippy, enter their name in the general search engine on the top right side of any page, then when the search result page appears, switch from "Places" view to "People" view by clicking on "People" on the top left side.
(Don't worry, we're making it so that this feature will be more visible soon, but since you took the time to read the FAQ, we're letting you be in the know! ;)
